Join Session 4 of the Pan-Africa Dialogue Series Co – led by the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights ( OHCHR) and the Stakeholder Group on Ageing Africa ( SGA Africa).
African older persons’ rights advocates and Human Rights commissioner and ambassador will center the leadership and lived realities of older Africans and share lived experiences on;
How to turn human rights principles into accountable systems; how to bring together sub national, national governments , civil society, women, youth, private sector and development partners to act and how member states can convert the ratified African Union Protocol on the Rights of Older Persons and the MIPAA review, as tools for real change ?
From The Gambia, Rwanda, Cameroon, Malawi , Kenya to the Indian Ocean, we will explore these objectives and how engagement mechanisms are working in various countries in Africa. OHCHR will give update on the UN Convention on the Rights of Older Persons and the mandate of the UN Intergovernmental Working Group on Ageing and why we ALL MUST BE A PART
